Senior English Electives Prepare Students for College and Careers
This week, Belleville West juniors will begin the process of selecting English electives for next year. The BW English department offers a wide array of electives in literature, writing, speaking, media literacy, and theatre. Students are required to complete two English electives as seniors, but students often choose additional English courses to pursue personal interests during the senior year. English courses provide students with strong preparation for both college and careers.

BW Senior Earns National Recognition for Theatre Talent
Belleville West senior Jaylon Muchison has been named a 2020 National YoungArts Foundation (YoungArts) Honorable Mention winner in Theatre. Jaylon joins 686 of the nation’s most accomplished artists in the visual, literary, and performing arts; he was selected based on the caliber of his artistic achievement by a discipline-specific panel of artists through a blind adjudication process. This year’s award winners represent the top 9.5% of applicants across ten disciplines. YoungArts award winners gain access to a prestigious program for emerging artists in the United States and have access to professional development throughout their careers. Congratulations, Jaylon!

Order a Pizza for your New Year’s Eve Celebration
The Belleville West English Department will be the recipient of a First Book-Pizza Hut grant this spring. Grant money will be used to purchase new, high-interest books for Belleville West classes. The amount of the grant is based on the purchases at our local Pizza Hut restaurants from December 3 through December 31.
Any time that you’re hungry for pizza in the month of December, please choose Pizza Hut. You can dine in, carry out, or order delivery. You don’t need any coupon code or paper to take to the restaurant; a portion of all purchases will be contributed to the Belleville West grant.
