Book Club Meets to Discuss Local Author’s Memoir
Members of the Belleville West Book Club met last Wednesday to discuss The Last Children of Mill Creek. The group gathered in the BW Library for conversation about this memoir by St. Louis author Vivian Gibson.

Speech Team Captures Another Victory

The Belleville West Speech and Acting Team traveled to Peoria for the Camelot Tournament on Saturday, November 20. The team dominated the tournament, finishing more than 150 points ahead of the second-place team.

English Teachers Wear Blue for Children’s Grief Awareness Day
Members of the BW English Department dressed in blue on Thursday, November 18, in recognition of Children’s Grief Awareness Day. This national event is a way to raise awareness and show support for the thousands of young children who grieve the loss of parents, siblings, friends, and other loved ones. The Belleville West campaign was coordinated by the counseling department and Ms. Christine Schaab, a member of the English Department.
Freshmen and Sophomores Take the Stage on Thursday Night
BW Little Theatre presents its annual freshman-sophomore show this Thursday at 6:30 p.m. This year’s show is Puffs, a hilarious send-up of the Harry Potter franchise. Tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for students.

BW National English Honor Society Raises Funds for Holiday Book Drive

Members of the BW chapter of the National English Honor Society will collect funds next week for their annual holiday book drive. Students can donate in their English classes, in the BW Library, and with NEHS members.
English Teachers Participate in National Epilepsy Awareness Month

November is National Epilepsy Awareness Month. Members of the English Department dressed in purple (the color associated with epilepsy awareness) on Wednesday, November 10, to raise awareness at Belleville West.
