Harambee Accepting New Members for 2022-2023
Harambee is now accepting new members, and everyone is welcome to join! The group’s first general meeting for this year will be Thursday, September 8, from 6:30-8 p.m. in the BW Commons. Interested students may complete this online membership form.
Little Theatre Welcomes New Students Next Week
Students interested in learning more about the theatre department at Belleville West are invited to attend the first Little Theatre meeting of the year. The meeting will be held at 3:30 on Tuesday, September 6, in room A111 (the choir room). Freshmen and sophomores are invited to attend the first-ever Little Theatre Donut Day on Wednesday, September 7, to tour the Performing Arts Center, meet upperclassmen in the theatre program, participate in theatre games, and enjoy donuts.
Speech Team Holds Auditions for New Members
The award-winning BW Speech and Acting Team is holding auditions for new members. Interested students can learn more information and complete the audition form at this link. Audition videos are due by next Wednesday, August 31.
Student Newspaper Seeks Writers, Photographers, and Artists for Staff
Writers, photographers, and artists: Are you interested in sharing your work with your peers? Would you like to be a published writer or artist? Would you like to bulk up your college applications? Hy News, the Belleville West student newspaper, is seeking new staff members for the 2022-2023 year. Interested students may attend an informational meeting in room B325 after school today or at 8:00 a.m. on Thursday. Current editors will discuss open positions and provide materials. Interested students who are unable to attend one of the meetings should see Mr. Garland in room B325.
English Department Offers Free Tutoring Services
Any student who would like some extra assistance with an English class can now receive tutoring through the Belleville West English Department. Tutoring will be offered during all lunch hours (3A, 3B, 4A, 4B, 5A, and 5B) each Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. To attend a tutoring session, the student simply needs to request a pass from his/her English teacher.
Book Club Holds Informational Meeting this Tuesday
The BW Book Club will hold a short informational meeting this Tuesday, August 23, at 3:30 in the BW Library.
The Belleville West Book Club is open to students in all grade levels. The group meets four times during the school year (in October, December, January, and April) to discuss books selected by the club members. Discussion sessions are held after school in the BW Library.
All interested students are encouraged to attend this meeting to learn more about the group.

Little Theatre Announces Auditions for Fall Play
Auditions for the 2022 fall play, The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time, will take place virtually from now through August 19. Students in all grade levels are eligible to audition. Interested students may visit this site for audition information and materials.
Freshmen Prepare for the New Year at West
Incoming students continued their Freshman Summer Experience on July 12 and 13. Participating students toured the Belleville West library, met with the counseling staff, learned to navigate the lunch line, previewed books for English class, picked up their Chromebooks for the 2022-2023 school year, and listened to some advice from upperclassmen. We look forward to welcoming these students back in August!
