BW Little Theatre Opens 2017-2018 Season with Fall Play
The Belleville West Little Theatre will present its annual fall play on Thursday through Saturday, October 5 through 7. This year’s production is Every Brilliant Thing, a new play by Duncan Macmillan.
The show’s narrator (junior Kaylon Brown) begins the show with an experience from his childhood. He is six years old. His mom (senior Cassidy Farrar) is in the hospital. His dad (sophomore Maxwell Juhas) says she’s “done something stupid.”
She finds it hard to be happy. So the young boy starts to make a list of everything that’s brilliant about the world. Everything that’s worth living for.
1. Ice cream.
2. Kung Fu movies.
3. Staying up past your bedtime and being allowed to watch TV.
4. The color yellow.
Soon, the list will take on a life of its own.
Every Brilliant Thing is a powerful play about depression and the lengths we will go to for those we love.
The production is directed by Mr. John Lodle, with technical direction by Mr. Jamie Klein. The student director is senior Cassidy Farrar. Student technical directors are seniors Nicole Barts, Allison Boggan, and Megan Zaiz; juniors Bailee Schobert and Lainey Goodrich; and sophomore Luke Schauster.
Performances are at 7:00 each evening in the Belleville West Performing Arts Center, located at 4063 Frank Scott Parkway West. Tickets are $8 for students and $10 for adults.

English Department Presents New Reading Challenge
For the 2017-2018 school year, the teachers in the BW English Department encourage students to read beyond their comfort zones. To help students try new genres, the English teachers have developed a list of book categories, with each teacher contributing one category (and several recommended books in that category). How many of these book categories can you read in the 2017-2018 school year?
Time to Think about Yearbook Pictures
In order to meet the yearbook deadline, Belleville West seniors must schedule senior pictures with an approved photographer by this Friday, September 15. A list of approved photographers is available outside the yearbook office (room B338). Any students with questions may see Mrs. Short, the yearbook sponsor, in room B314.
For underclassmen, Life Touch school pictures are now ready. Students should stop in the bookstore to pick up their pictures.
